Savant's new reviews today are Long Day's Journey into Night Lion's Gate War With Iraq: Stories from the Front Koch Media Das Boot: The Original Uncut Version Columbia TriStar and The Moody Blues The Lost Performance Live in Paris 1970 SRO Happy hot Sunday in Los Angeles. I'm halfway through the Tarzan movies and considering going to the American Cinematheque tonight for a triple bill of classic Toho sci-fi: Rodan, Ghidrah The Three Headed Monster and Battle in Outer Space. The last is actually a substitution; the print of The H-Man turned out to have flaws, a special agent told me. I don't know if these are the American versions or subtitled Japanese language prints, which would much more attractive. Depends how I feel, I guess; I should really run out and see Fahrenheit 9/11 before someone finds a way to ban it. Thanks, Glenn Erickson

Savant's new reviews today are Deathdream Blue Underground A Minute to Pray, A Second to Die MGM and The Happiest Millionaire Disney And it's a happy (probably belated) Father's Day here, with kids calling in from back East and a fun trip to see the new Harry Potter movie, which was very pleasant. I just got the word that some Tarzan movies are on the way, and I've already seen some of the Warner film noir discs. The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie is also on the way, along with an irresistably tacky Joe Sarno Something Weird double bill of Sin in the Suburbs and The Swap. There's also a new Kurosawa-Renoir review expected soon. Thanks for reading! Glenn Erickson

Hello from California, where the weather is so good I wish I could give you a sample over the net. The studio library offerings are about to turn to a summer-long film noir rally, but right now we're getting a full diet of non-genre classics and quality fare. Titles already released that I need to catch up with are Long Day's Journey into Night, Julius Caesar, A Minute to Pray a Second to Die, Breezy, Das Boot (miniseries), and Hangman's Knot. Already in hand or on the way are Mama Roma, The Lower Depths, Driller Killer, Deathdream, Kotch, The Asphalt Jungle, Murder My Sweet and Gun Crazy. I also bought a copy of Jack the Giant Killer for myself and may review it if anyone wants me too - it came out quite a while ago.
Savant's new reviews today are Moulin Rouge MGM Goodbye, Columbus Paramount and The Snake Pit Fox I heard last week that Universal has postponed or put off its disc of Double Indemnity; if that's true, I hope it was so they can up the quality or extras for the title. See You Next Thursday, Glenn Erickson

Savant's new reviews today are Fanfan le Tulipe and Le Bossu C'Est La Vie, Region 2 by Lee Broughton Stay Hungry MGM Crash Dive Fox Too Late the Hero MGM and The Man from Colorado Columbia TriStar Hello from DVD Savant, enjoying a nice Debarcation Day in California. Studios go ape around this time with War and action-related titles, so I tried to put a few out there for the unofficial holiday. I should think that a real veteran would prefer something to take his mind off combat, but that's not necessarily true at all. Thanks for reading, and all the corrections too! Glenn Erickson

Savant's new reviews today are Force of Evil Lion's Gate and Custer of the West MGM Under the editing gun with no big news to report ... but the American Cinematheque is presenting a must-see double bill of two Czech science fiction films this summer: END OF AUGUST AT THE HOTEL OZONE is a 1967 post-apocalyptic story of a group of marauding females that I never thought I'd get a chance to see. IKARIE XB-1 is the legendary Czech science fiction movie about a Voyage to the End of the Universe (the AIP redub, chop-down title) that was a big Trieste contender in 1963. An amazing double bill that I'll make sure not to miss ... Glenn Erickson
