The plot is simple, after a credit card theft puts the squeeze on a couple of sisters they are forced to rent a room in their country home. A Hippy-chick named Petal (Misty Mundae) comes along and decides to move in on one condition: She needs to be able to smoke her weed in the house. After initially being shocked, the uptight two-some decide to let Petal lay down roots in their home. Things immediately get off (literally) on the wrong foot when Petal uses up all the hot water during a prolonged shower masturbation session which allows the viewer copious glimpses of her 70's style bush and armpits. After confronting the sister's about their voyeurism, she tells them that in addition to believing in free love she also digs women.

After seducing the younger sister, Jennifer, with pot and a three-way with an Indian looking Hippy girl named Mandy, Petal sets her sights on converting the truly uptight Ashleigh to the ways of 70's Sapphic Love. The Coup de Grace comes when some pot brownies are consumed after dinner and faster than you can say "Sonny & Cher", Ashleigh is decked out in full Hippy regalia, with a guitar in her hand. The guitar is quickly replace by a joint and then the Four-way make out session begins, but ends rather tamely with neither "sister" joining with the other (Hey, at least that would have made it interesting…) . In the end, the whole house has mellowed out and, through the power of pot, they have become the "Groovy Beaver Hippy Sisters". I'm not even going to go into that one.

I guess to belay the brief 50 minute running time of That 70's Girl, Seduction Cinema has included a truly bizzaro piece of "real" 70's erotica called Dr. Christina of Sweden (1970). What begins almost as a travelogue as the buxom Dr. Christina visits France to write an article for her sex column back home, quickly turns raunchy when a couple that agreed to be interviewed decide to copulate rather than answer questions. The good Dr. is so turned on by this that we see her in the apartment she's sharing with another woman, taking that woman's shoe, and pleasuring herself with it. As Dr. Christina licks, smells and rubs the shoe against her breasts, her voiceover reveals that "the French are very imaginative when it comes to lovemaking."

Mixing images of Dr. Christina and her roommate tongue wrestling in bed with those of the Eiffel Tower and local French skateboarders, the director is trying to say something here about the sexual culture of the times, but I'll be the first to admit I had no idea what was going on. When the film culminates with the Dr. attending a pretty hardcore Lesbian Sex Show (featuring a performer with some of the largest natural breasts I've EVER seen), things reach a head. The show goes on for almost a third of the films brief running time. After which, Dr. Christina, embracing her newfound Lesbian ways goes shoe shopping and returns to Sweden.

NOTE: I received additional information about this release of Dr. Christina of Sweden from G. Noel Gross, who does DVDTalk's CineSchlock-O-Rama Column. Noel had this to say: "While Nick Phillips was an avant garde pornographer, he wasn't so out there as to have the visuals not match the dialogue or have a blonde Swede morph into grindhouse queen Uschi Digart... once the "young couple" gets a-going the images actually switch to scenes from Pleasures of a Woman (while retaining the Dr. Christina of Sweden narration and occassional recuts back to the original footage). Why? A last minute decision upon realizing the content would be considered "hardcore." Dr. Christina of Sweden will be reissued with another harder, more line-pushing Phillips flick later this year." The DVD:

Picture: Both movies are presented in a 1.33:1 full frame aspect ratio. That 70's Girl was shot on Digital Video and looks the worse for it, while Dr. Christina of Sweden is transferred from a worn film print, which is especially scratched and damaged at the beginning of each new "reel".

Audio: I believe that there is a 2.0 Dolby Digital Stereo track on That 70's Girl, but Dr. Christina of Sweden seems to be a Mono Track. The sound was fine for what was on the DVD, but still nothing to write home about.

Extras: The Extras included on this disc are a Behind the Scenes Featurette, a 9 minute selection of Outtakes from Misty in New York, the Trailer for That 70's Girl, Web Links and a Trailer Gallery for 25 of Misty Mundae's films.

Conclusion: I guess that Seduction Cinema HAD to put two films on this DVD to justify the price. Even still, the combined running time for both of the movies barely breaks the 100 minute mark. Combine that with the poor quality and substandard storylines of each of these films (although That 70's Girl is definitely the worse offender here) and I find it very hard to give even the slightest recommendation. I did have a lot of fun with the Misty Mundae trailer gallery (The girl is a cottage industry unto herself!), but would recommend almost any of those films over this one, and if 70's Erotica is your thing, than Something Weird Video should have you well covered with their various Nudie-Cutey and Exploitation films.
