The Movie:

Image Entertainment presents another excellent musical program, although this time it's not completely a concert presentation. "Tina Turner: Celebrate" is a 60th Birthday Party concert that includes some of her biggest hits such as "What's Love Got To Do With It". I believe this was also broadcast, as well, but here on DVD we get the full experience with Dolby Digital or DTS audio. Also, between some of the songs we get footage of stars such as Mariah Carey wishing Tina the best or interviews with Tina.

Is it a good concert? I really think that Tina Turner doesn't know how to not put on a good concert. I think there are hardly any entertainers who give as much heart and soul on stage as she does, and that certainly shows again here in this remarkable performance as a very talented group of musicians and dancers provide additional support.

Songs:
1. River Deep Mountain High
2. 24-7
3. What's Love Got To Do With It
4. Steamy Windows
5. When The Heartache Is Over
6. Whatever You Need
7. Don't Leave Me This Way
8. Let's Stay Together
9. Talk To My Heart
10. Hold On I'm Coming
11. It's Only Love - Tina Turner & Bryan Adams
12. Without You - Tina Turner & Bryan Adams 13. All The Women
14. Nutbush City Limits
15. The Best.

The DVD

VIDEO: The video quality of the concert is outstanding as well in comparison to most concert DVDs. The 1.85:1 presentation is actually anamorphic, and the picture quality is often fantastic during the concert, with perfect sharpness and great detail. Colors are also excellent, with warm colors from the lights washing over the stage, but still looking crisp on this DVD. I didn't notice anything in the way of problems such as pixelation or shimmering. Just a totally sharp, well-defined presentation that was a pleasure to view. .

SOUND: As the program goes back and forth between concert footage and clips about Tina, the sound for the other footage is nothing elaborate. The concert footage, on the other hand, sounds absolutely great. Offered in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1, this was an instance where I felt that the DTS version sounded noticably, if not hugely, fuller and richer. I found the Dolby Digital version slightly lacking warmth and a little less comfortable to listen to. Tina's fantastic voice sounds natural and clear, and the music comes through very well. Surrounds are often just used for crowd noise; the majority of music is in the front. Although I probably wouldn't put this in the list of most impressive cocnert DVDs for audio presentation, it certainly delivered very pleasing audio quality and I found it extremely enjoyable.

MENUS:: The main menu is actually animated with a clip playing and music in the background.

EXTRAS:: Photo gallery, bios, and videos for "When The Heartache Is Over" and "Whatever You Need".

Final Thoughts: Another outstanding performance from Tina Turner, and a great presentation by Image Entertainment, with great audio/video quality. Recommended.
