THE RIGHT TEMPTATION

Synopsis:

A wealthy woman (Dana Delaney) hires a Private Investigator (Rebecca DeMornay) to shadow her husband (Keifer Sutherland) and to ascertain whether or not he's been cheating on her. When the investigation comes up dry, Anthea (Delaney) asks the investigator to kick it up a notch by attempting to seduce him herself. A former police officer, Derian McCall (De Mornay) is still running from the demons of her last case while a member of the force. Anxious to put her past behind her, Derian accepts the challenge and the game of seduction begins. The truth is never what is seems in her line of work and the line between professionalism and personal life are blurred when the seduction goes all too well and she finds herself among other things, embroiled in a murder investigation where she's the A#1 suspect. On it's face it's a below average thriller that leaves you with more questions than answers. After an initial viewing, subsequent watching is unnecessary and not recommended.

Audio/Video:

The film's audio is a decently involving DD5.1 platform. While most of the surround effects are atmospheric in intent (Thunderclaps, Wind blowing etc…) the film's score is the most widely used aspect of the listening space. The dialogue is clean and easily understood. While the surround effect and LFE involvement are nothing to write home about they do a more than adequate job in conveying the film's aural textures. The video is a very clean anamorphcially enhanced widescreen presentation. The colors are rich and well saturated and the flesh tones are accurate. There were grainy moments in the darker scenes but on the whole the images were very nicely rendered.

Extras:

The extras on the disc are confined to Trailers for Trois, Truth and Consequences NM, The Right Temptation and Hollow Man. There are no other extras on the disc.

Overall:

This film will keep your attention however, if you watch the trailer first, you'll know everything. Including the twists that occur throughout the film. While the film had promise, it suffered from a deplorable lack of substance and plausible storyline. If you avoid this feature, even at the rental counter, you will have yielded to…The Right Temptation. Skip it.
