Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels
The Movie:
One of the funniest movies to come out of the U.K. since The Full Monty, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels features hilarious characters and a great plot. Besides the plots and characters that were fun to follow, the dry humor that I have come to expect from British movies is evident and adds a lot to the movie. Lock, Stock ingeniously combines many subplots into one riot of a movie. Sooner or later when they all come together sparks will fly.
The Picture:
I was unable to find any major flaws with the video, but the colors did seem a little bit darker than I remember in the theater. Overall, the pictures are sharp and there's not really much to complain about here.
The Sound:
The sound is good, but not exceptional. The digital 5.1 sound is good, but during the fight scenes, it just seems like there should be more to it.
The Extras:
The extras are a little slim, but what is included is more than a lot of DVDs. The featurette is a little short, but it does contain some interviews that are funny. The cockney rhyming dictionary is amusing, but pretty slim. It is pretty cool to see and compare the U.S. and U.K. trailers. It would have been really nice to get a commentary from the director (and award winner) Guy Ritchie.
Conclusion:
A great movie with a few extras make this a great DVD to own. If you liked The Full Monty, you'll love this movie. The Brits have done it again. With a few more extras (including a commentary), this would be one of the best discs in my collection.
