The Movie:
Big on action, Enemy of the State is an enjoyable techno-thriller with solid performances by Will Smith and Gene Hackman who pays homage to his famous roll in The Conversation. If you don't let the movie's big brother bashing message bother you,(which they end up beating you over the head with) You'll really enjoy this film.

The Picture:
Enemy of the state looks great on DVD with a very solid film transfer. My only complaint (as with other Buena Vista titles) is the notable absence of 16x9 support.

The Sound:
Enemy of the State sounds fantastic. The Dolby 5.1 sound track supports this great action film. It passed with flying colors the 'helicopter test - as with almost every other action movie a helicopter wizzes from the front channel to the rear channels and in enemy it sounds fantastic!

The Extras:
Unfortunately Enemy of the State is very light on extras. Two almost identical featurettes do little to enhance the film. I kept thinking how amazing a commentary track with Will Smith and Gene Hackman would have been.

Conclusion:
With great sound and a good film transfer Enemy of the State could have been a top DVD. However, lacking any meaty extras and missing 16x9 support this home run of a movie turns out to be more of a ground rule double on DVD.
