Poison Ivy 2: Lily
Video: Poison Ivy 2: Lily is presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, with the option for full screen also available. New Line is one studio you can always trust for top notch visual transfers, and this disc furthers that reputation one more step. Since this is not what most would call a high profile title, New Line could have rushed out an inferior disc, but they didn't, they issued a fantastic disc, including a beautiful visual transfer. The image has a very slick, film like appearance, it doesn't look like home video. That is a good thing in my book, but some people don't care for it. The color levels are gorgeous, the movie is filled with bright and vibrant hues, especially during the outdoor scenes. Black levels are deep and natural, and I could not find any remnant of compression problems.
Audio: This disc uses a 5.1 track for audio, but I wouldn't recommend this as a demo disc by any means. As you can imagine, Poison Ivy 2 is a soft core sex movie, so audio is not really the focus. While the disc is decent sounding, there are some issues with it. The dialogue and low key effects are quite low in volume, while the soundtrack and surrounf effects are very loud. This had me screwing with the volume level quite a bit. Other than that, this disc sports a solid track, with a rich surround sound and clear dialogue. You'll just be trying to balance the volume to be able to hear it all.
Extras: This movie was a direct to video release, so there is no trailer. I would have liked a television spot perhaps in it's place at least however. Aside from the option of viewing the added two minutes of footage in the unrated version, the only extra is some meager talent files. New Line, you know you could have scored an Alyssa Milano commentary, she's got the time...
