The Movie:

If Mystery Science Theater 3000 was still around (and they could show nudity), they would absolutely have a field day with this 1974 Swedish soft-core picture. The film is about several hot women from Venus (maybe early cousins of the hot alien chicks in "Dude, Where's My Car?"). Sperm apparently powers their planet and they've come to Earth looking for 10,000 years worth.

They land in a small, snow-covered town in Sweden where the locals don't seem too bright (Swedish people in real life are quite intelligent, these characters in the film are not). They see the gang of women themselves, but they think that the group (wearing spacesuits, mind you) are members of the French Women's Ski Team.

While there is a fair amount of nudity in this 1974 pic (and the women are actually quite good looking), there's also several stretches between these scenes where the audience is forced to sit through the filmmaker's idea of a plot. The scenes of attempted comedy are not particularly funny, but there's some lines of dialogue and situations that are stupid enough to be unintentionally hilarious. The performances are, as expected, pretty weak - they actually take the material seriously, which further keeps the comedy from being effective. I understand that there's a sizable fan base for these B-movie pictures - some of them are mildly entertaining ("Sexy Sixth Sense") but this one starts off unintentionally funny, then seems dated and eventually boring.

For those who are simply looking for soft-core situations, Seduction Cinema has included a 23-minute short feature on this disc as well, called "The Seduction of Cyber Jane". This newly produced piece stars Esmerelda Delarocca and famed B-movie starlet Misty Mundae. Delarocca stars as student Jayne Ester, who is researching sex education on the internet when she comes across Misty's website. Essentially, there's little plot - the two girls go for quite the hot performance on what's supposed to be a webcam for the other 21 minutes. No complaints here - this proved more entertaining than the 77-minute "2069".

The DVD

VIDEO: Seduction Cinema presents the film in 1.33:1 full-frame, which I'm guessing is the film's original aspect ratio. While a fair amount of scenes look their age, the presentation appeared cleaner than I'd expected. Sharpness and detail are inconsistent, as some scenes appeared noticably soft, while others looked slightly sharper.

The presentation's only major problem was wear on the print. While scenes here and there could appear free of such flaws, there's a fair amount of the film that shows specks, marks and a scratch or two. Light shimmering is seen once or twice, but I didn't see any pixelation. Colors also appeared slightly faded, but not too terribly so.

SOUND: The mono soundtrack is dubbed in English and actually doesn't sound half bad. The sound effects, score and dialogue are hilariously cheesy, but fairly crisp sounding, with no distortion.

MENUS: Basic main and sub-menus with score behind the main menu.

EXTRAS: Aside from the previously mentioned 23-minute film, there's also trailers for 6 other Retro-Seduction Cinema releases as well as a trailer for Mundae's "Mummy Raider".

Final Thoughts: Parts of "2069" are good for an unintentional laugh, but other parts seem dated and some of the humor falls flat. Fans of B-movies still might want to check it out. Personally, I liked the additional feature better than the main attraction on this disc.
