Lauryn Hill Unplugged 2.0
Synopsis:
MTV Unplugged is one of the better ideas hatched at Music TeleVision. The idea of getting up close and personal with your favorite musical personalities in an acoustic environment is a refreshing entry in an all too stagnant music pool. This is not Lauryn Hill of the Fugees or the Lauryn hill of the Sister Act films. This is not even the Lauryn Hill of the 12x-platinum,multi-grammy winning CD the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. This is Lauryn Hill stripped bare to her most simplistic elements presenting her soul for all to hear. Lauryn Hill Unplugged 2.0 is a very personal set of 13 gritty songs that speak to the reality of life without all the clicks and whistles. These songs are not lilting Top Fourty hits that are going to get a lot of airplay (if any). They are songs that play like the soundtracks of our lives.
Audio/Video:
The audio is a very powerful DD5.1 platform that richly fills the entire listening area. The sets are so fully recreated that you feel as though you are in the studio with Lauryn even while sitting in your home theater. The video is an equally lush full-frame presentation that is free from blemishes and imperfections. The colors are rich and the saturation levels are good.
Overall:
This intimate setting provides some of the most heart-wrenching, soul-searching music I've heard in a long while. Lauryn Hill provides easily the most personal of performances where the audience is treated like equals as opposed to fan(atic)s and invited to share in what amounts to an awesomely moving musical event. Recommended.
