Episode 22: Wish:
As the Beasts grow stronger and more plentiful in number, Jun must decide if she is to retain her humanity or if she's going to join them. When Kazumi's life is on the line, Jun, AKA: The Devil Lady, attempts to save her after a prolonged flash back showing where the two met and how they became friends.

Episode 23: Life:
With the passing of a friend, Jun reflects on what is to become of her and the world. The beasts begin attacking military installations where captive beasts were being imprisoned. They are completely unable to stop the onslaught that occurs, as they are unprepared for the events taking place.

Episode 24: Heart:
Having left the city to escape the madness, Jun thinks she can hide out in a small town. She learns that while she can run, she can't hide from the coming war and a small friend points out that Jun is very much like Asuka.

Episode 25: God:
Asuka, taking Jun aside to a beautiful place while a number of Jun's beat friends are in line to be exterminated, gives the young heroine a chance to redeem herself. Professing to be a representative of God, Asuka shows Jun that even she has a flaw but the coming tide of evil will be washed away.

Episode 26: Man:
Asuka, looking like an angel, proclaims herself the second coming. As the world revels in her beauty, Jun escapes in order to fight one last time to stop Asuka's plans, knowing that she's not what she appears to be.

I liked the show more as it progressed and only wish I could've seen it from the start. This is one show that you'd really benefit from watching in order as the episodes build upon one another. I think it deserved a rating of Recommended but I expect a boxed set, with a modified price, might make it an even better value. If you're looking for a horror-based anime with a bit of nudity on the side, you may like this one.

Picture: The picture was presented in it's original full frame 1.33:1 ratio. As always, it was dark and moody-befitting it's theme. It was well mastered and I didn't see many compression artifacts this time but there was some video noise in a few spots.

Sound: The sound was presented with a choice of a 2.0 Dolby Digital English or Japanese track with English subtitles. Both were clear and my preference was the English track this time. The music was haunting and eerie.

Extras: There were some trailers, a few sketches, a paper insert, and some trading cards along with the usual clean opening and ending sequence.

Final Thoughts: All the loose threads were tied up quite nicely and the ending fit with the darker theme of the show. For a low budget anime series made in 1998, it had some interesting and entertaining moments. Like Volume 5, this one seemed to be directed at a niche anime market but it wasn't bad. Darker themes, limited anime style and haunting music made it worth a recommendation.
