THE MOVIE

Although low budget and campy, there's little denying that The Sexy Adventures Of Van Helsing is more watchable than that other Van Helsing movie that came out this year – and there's certainly more eye candy in it as well…at least that of the female variety.

The movie tells the story of young Wilhelmina Van Helsing (Erika Smith), who is a descendant of the original vampire hunter. At the opening of the film, Wilhelmina is deep into a dream where she is exploring her lesbian fantasies – and one of the main themes of the story has Wilhelmina realizing that she is attracted to ladies more than men.

The villain here is Dracula's daughter (Darian Caine), whom Wilhelmina learns (from the deceased Van Helsing, no less) she must kill in order to fulfill her destiny. When the Countess Dracula finally meets up with Wilhelmina, she tells her that she needs the blood of virgins to survive. Figuring that the only real virgins in today's day and age would be lesbians, Wilhelmina promises the Countess that she'll round up some for her. The Countess believes she has Wilhelmina under mind control – but Wilhelmina is just tricking her into believing so in order to carry out her plan to destroy the Countess and, of course, check out some girl-on-girl action while she's at it!

If you've ever watched a release from Seduction Cinema before, you're probably already aware that these releases are pretty thin on plot, and pretty big on naked flesh. The Sexy Adventures Of Van Helsing is no different, but it does have a good sense of humor about itself and hey, lets be honest, female vampires can be awfully sexy to watch!

THE DVD

Video:

The video is presented in the full-frame format and is about average for this kind of release. The quality here is about on-par with other Seduction Cinema releases I have seen. Nothing spectacular, but no glaring distractions or glitches.

Audio:

Presented in 2.0 Dolby, the audio quality is good enough to serve its purpose…but not much more than that. This is a very inactive track, but considering the low budget quality of the film, this is about the best one could hope for as far as the audio goes.

Extras:

The coolest extra on this DVD is the inclusion of a 1998 film entitled Vampire's Seduction, which is basically the same story as the main presentation, with the exception that the Van Helsing descendant is a geeky guy instead of a bi-curious woman. It's not as good as The Sexy Adventures Of Van Helsing, but I did think the girl playing Dracula's daughter (Tina Krause) was more appealing than Darian Caine. This bonus feature also includes an Feature-Length Commentary Track from producer Michael Raso.

Also on the DVD is a Behind The Scenes featurette that runs just a few minutes shy of a half hour. Viewers can also take a look at six Deleted Scenes from the movie, or check out the more than two dozen Trailers for other Seduction Cinema releases that have been packed onto this disc.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Let's be honest, the target audience for this film isn't for fans of intricately plotted stories or Oscar caliber acting. The goal is to entice with female flesh...and lots of it. And from that standpoint, The Sexy Adventures Of Van Helsing delivers the goods. If you love this kind of schlock (and use that term in a good way), this one's definitely worth a rental.
