THE ART OF WAR

Synopsis:

Wesley Snipes is Neil Shaw. A covert operative for the United Nations security force. When a Chinese/American Trade agreement is in jeopardy of failure, Shaw and his crack squad of high tech surveillance operatives are put into play. At a fundraiser for the event, the Chinese Ambassador is murdered and Shaw is framed for the crime. All alone and caught in a system where he doesn't exist, Shaw must rely on Sun Tsu's handbook about victory without combat…The Art Of War. With nothing but trouble on every side, Shaw must use every trick he has learned to root out the true masterminds behind this shadow of lies and deception. His only strength is his mastery of The Art of War. Great action thriller with some very exciting sequences!

Audio/Video:

The audio and video for the feature are fabulous! The 5.1 track definitely envelopes you in the atmosphere of the film and provides rich and full sub use and exceptionally tight surround work. The film's video portion sparkles with clarity and is easily one of Warner Brother's best discs to date. There were no transfer errors noted in the print. The colors were true, the skin tones were accurate and the visual textures of the film were exceptional.

Extras:

The ball got dropped on this one in the extras department. The only extras are trailers for the feature as well as trailers for other Morgan Creek features. Including the box office hit/Sci-Fi Fan Favorite- BattleField Earth! (snicker) The trailer for Art of War is impeccable and in 5.1. the balance of the trailers are in pretty poor shape and are in 2.0 and full frame.

Overall:

I 'll admit it, I'm a Wesley Snipes fan! I enjoy his performances and look forward to his films! This film however was done before and with Wesley Snipes. It's called U.S. Marshals! While I really enjoyed the film, it did get lost at one or two points and seemed a little contrived on more than one occasion. It kept my attention and was very visually entertaining. Good solid mindless action movie! Wesley is his usual cool self and delivers a very solid performance. If there were more in the way of extras, I'd really highly recommend it for the action and visual treats. However, the storyline and lack of extras only allow me to recommend it for either a purchase or a rental!
