Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective

List Price: Unknown [Buy now and save at Amazon]

Review by Chuck Arrington | posted January 10, 2000 | E-mail the Author
Synopsis: The world's most famous detective is brought to digital life in this interactive adventure. Sherlock, Dr. Watson & a host of others are investigating three original mysteries. The case of the Mummy's Curse, The case of the Tin Soldier & the case of the Mystified Murderess. In each of these mysteries, you are to assist the great detective by using your remte control to select bits of evidence & information. If you choose wisely, you go to the judge for a final ruling on all the evidence you have collected.

Audio: 2 channel stereo

Video: Pan & Scan presentation that looks more like a 2nd or 3rd generation VHS copy more so than a digital rendering.

Extras: None

Overall: The concept is very cool but the interactivity is difficult at times. The instructions are given in a rather boring tutorial by Holmes at the start of the disc. Instead of being informative, it comes off as a rather dull moment that never seems to end. A quirk that I have with the disc is all of the characters are British however, all of the actors sound as though they hail from West Philadelphia! This could have been a really cool interactive experience but sadly, it plays like a lame low budget psuedo-BBC production.-skip it!
