SEX AND THE CITY: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON

Synopsis:

HBO has become the first Cable Network (in my estimation) to deliver on the promise of good television. The Sopranos, Oz, From the Earth to The Moon and Sex in The City are just a few of the incredibly well written, impeccably acted and solidly presented series to hit the airwaves in years. Sex in the City follows the lives of four well-educated and sexually mature women in the greater metropolitan area of Manhattan. Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda encounter different situations/issues regarding relationships not only between themselves and men but between themselves as women as well. By now, I'm sure you noticed the title has "Sex" in it. For the squeamish, yes, there is a fair amount of sex in the series given that it deals with the intricacies of the lifestyles of four beautiful single women, in one of the greatest metropolitan locales in the world, who almost have it all. Each week, they encounter a new something that causes them to redefine the rules of dating in the 1990's as well as create some rules of their own. Sex in the City is an excellent series that's both humorous and insightful. Definitely a great weekly experience now, you can have sex in the city whenever you want it! (At least the first two seasons worth!) The entire second season is encoded on three discs featuring six episodes apiece. Each disc features an animated menu screen featuring imagery from the series. If you use it on the PC, it will also open a link to the HBO website as well.

Audio/Video:

The audio for the series is presented in a loud and crystalline DD2.0 that delivers an excellent audio presentation. The dialogue is clean and easily understood and the audio is particularly rich for a DD2.0 presentation. The video portion of the series is presented in a full frame platform that suffers only from being full frame. The digital transfer is rich and the colors are very well saturated. There were no transfer errors noticed and the imagery is nothing short of perfect…for a full frame presentation that is.

Extras:

The only extras on the discs are trailers for the series and bios for the cast.

Overall:

Sex and the City is a great series. It's a lot of dun and it will make you an ardent fan after your first session. With the third season on now and both the first and second seasons on disc, it's pretty hard not to get caught up in the affairs of this quartet of very intriguing and funny women. If you haven't seen the show, do yourself a favor and get this set ASAP. For $35, you could do a lot worse. Highly Recommended
