Challenge Of Flight
List Price: Unknown [Buy now and save at Amazon]
The Movie:
"The Challenge Of Flight" contains two programs; "Final Approach" and "Whispers of Death", the disc, with 90 minutes of material, takes a look at all of the things that could go wrong in flight over the span of the two documentaries. While some may find the footage of battles entertaining, it's the quality of the program itself that makes it rather hard to watch at all. Due to the age of the film and the quality of how it has been kept over the years, a lot of the footage is uneven to say the least ( there is even a warning at the begining of one of the programs about where the footage came from and what to expect). Much of the footage during "Whispers of Death" is in Black and White and is extremely shaky, sometimes soft, and containing much in the way of problems with the print(scratches, slight marks), etc. The sole soundtrack on "Whispers" is a slight, pop score. The soundtrack on "final approach" is similar, and of equal quality. While "Final Approach" is in color, the footage is grainy looking and occasionally exhibiting marks and scratches.
While the quality of the DVD is questionable, the price is not terribly expensive for this DVD edition. While I can't recommend it, those who are interested in flight may want to take a look at it.
