Chances are if you have not heard of Jenny McCarthy, then you have been living under rock for the last century or you just weren't around to find out just who she is. On the chance you don't know who she is (or you need a refresher), Miss McCarthy was a beautiful blonde vixen who found her way into the entertainment business by removing her clothes. Yes, folks, she got naked and everyone looked. In 1993, she took the title of Playboy's Miss October and was featured in a number of Playboy pictorials, magazines, videos, etc. Her frame came quickly, as she was picked as the 1994 Playmate of the Year.

But Jenny did not stop there, she moved into mainstream media and starred in a variety of television shows and movies. Notably, she had her own sketch comedy series The Jenny McCarthy Show, a sitcom about an odd group of wannabe Hollywood actors living under the same roof Jenny, and another sitcom with attitude The Bad Girl's Guide. Throughout the years, McCarthy has become one of many blonde bombshell icons from the 1990s.

In Playboy: Ultimate Jenny McCarthy, Playboy revisits Jenny and gives her fans and casual viewers a chance to see this former Playboy Playmate in the buff again. Playboy: Ultimate Jenny McCarthy capitalizes from Jenny's popular name and features various footage from her career as a Playboy bunny, which includes material from Jenny McCarthy 1994: Playmate of the Year Centerfold Video, Jenny McCarthy Playmate Profile, 1994 Playmate of the Year Party, Jenny McCarthy: The Playboy Years, Playboy's Wet and Wild, Playboy's College Girls, and more.

"Opening" is nothing too exciting. It is the prelude to the main feature and contains a montage of scenes from the material to come. "Flowers" is Jenny's first Playboy interview and her first Playmate profile, which is called "Flowers". In it, Jenny gets naked in a montage of outdoor scenes. "Water Pump" is another Playmate profile with a water pump and her naked body. Hopefully, you can guess what happens next. But if you can't, here is a hint; she pours water on herself. "Night Dreams" has Jenny in a poorly lit room that is really windy for being indoors. Her night gown magically finds its way to the floor.

"Playmate of the Year 1994" is all about what the title says. It features details about her career and being Playmate of the year, and has candid footage and interviews with Jenny and Hef. "Heavenly Dreams" is a Playmate of the year video. Jenny is in the emergency room being rushed to somewhere. She dreams about being in heaven with two female angels who get naked with her. "School Daze" is another Playmate of the year profile. Jenny dresses up as a Catholic school girl, cheerleader, and graduate. Then she dances around and gets in the buff. If you are a big fan of Jenny, "Deserted Town" is certainly going to make you jealous. Jenny meets up with some hunk in the middle of nowhere and they take off each other's clothes (mostly Jenny's).

"Antique Shop" is a Playmate profile with Jenny going into an old rundown house with lots of antiques. While in the shop, she sees a picture of a hunky guy and dreams about being with him. Her clothes come off while she thinks about it. "Passion" is another Playmate profile with Jenny getting naked in a dark room. "A Day At The Races" is a goofy segment with Jenny spending the day at the horse track and getting naked. "Pool Hall" has Jenny getting naked on a pool table and being friendly with some hansom fellah.

"Shake It Loose" has Jenny cleaning the house in style. She dances around, vacuums, dusts, bakes, and she does it bare. "Swing" is a black and white Playmate profile with limited color. Jenny moves between a bed and a swing, naked of course. "The Locker Room" includes three girls with Jenny. All four get naked and play with fire and ice! "Photo Shoot" is the last segment from Playboy's College Girls. Jenny plays the photographer and takes pictures of some girl. Soon after Jenny switches places with her.

In addition to the sixteen chapters discussed, there are random short bits included at the end of some chapters. The additional material includes things like a montage of pictures from the holiday pictorial set (naked with Santa Claus), pictures from the September 1997 pictorial set, behind the scenes of the Playmate of the year video, interviews, and so on.

Overall, I was not too impressed with this DVD. Now don't get me wrong. I think Jenny McCarthy is a beautiful woman and seeing her naked is not a painful experience. The problem I have is that the appeal of it goes away pretty fast. With over sixty minutes of content, Playboy: Ultimate Jenny McCarthy does not have much to keep your interest.

The DVD

Video:
The feature is presented in both widescreen color and 1.33:1 ratio full screen color. The video jumps back and forth between the two. During the widescreen segments, the picture is letterboxed. The quality is not great. Some of this footage is more than ten years old. The picture can get pretty dirty and there is heavy aliasing.

Audio:
The audio is given in 2.0 Dolby digital stereo sound. The sound quality is good, except it offers very little distinction in separation between channels. There is a lot of spoken dialogue, most of which occurs concurrently with background music. Both are quite easy to hear.

Extras:
If you are interested in extras, you are pretty much out of luck. Included is a slide show of some pictures from Jenny's Playboy pictorials. Other than that, there is nothing.

Final Thoughts:
Playboy: Ultimate Jenny McCarthy features a little over sixty minutes of various video profiles of Miss Jenny McCarthy in the buff. Included throughout the presentation are interviews, pictorial montages, and other related segments. Fans of Jenny will revel at the chance to see her nude once again, and everyone else might be interested for a couple minutes.
