Synopsis:Melanie Griffith & Matthew Modine play a young couple with big dreams. They buy a 2 story property in the prestigous Pacific Heights area of San Francisco. With a $750,000.00 mortgage, they are anxious to rent the homes' two first floor apartments & generate much needed income. Unfortunately for them Carter Hayes (Michael Keaton) comes calling. Impressed by his flashy Porsche & wad of cash, Drake(Modine) disregards his normal security protocals & rents to Hayes on the basis of his cash & flash. Instead of being the model tenant, Carter is really, the tenant from Hell! In a matter of days he barricades himself in the apartment, pays no rent, begins some sort of construction within the apartment at all hours of the night & goades Drake into beating him severly, in an attempt to identify himself as the victim in this controversy to the police. With a crazed tenant & no way out, Drake & Patty are poised for what will eventually become a fight of their very lives.

Video: The Video is a beautiful non anamorphic widescreen image that was extremely clean. There were no imperfections noticed in the print.

Audio: The Audio is a 5.1 digital format that really rocked! The surrounds are very effectively used given the wide array of stingers & background noises included on the disc.

Extras:The only extra on the disc is a trailer for the film.

Overall:Pacific Heights is a great thriller with twists & turns that effectively convey the tension the film attempts to portray. Michael Keaton was made for this role! His maniacal character will stay with you long after the movie is over. While I am not a fan of Melanie Griffith or Matthew Modine, I also felt they played their roles well. It's a good renter if you are in the mood for this sort of thing.
