The Movie

Playboy: 2007 Video Playmate Calendar is a collection of twelve pictorial features of the 2007 playmates. The opinion I had from my review of the 2005 calendar is the same. At a quick glance, the calendar looks like a dream come true. It follows the Playboy tradition by producing a handful of very beautiful girls, who are more than eager to show a little skin. Unfortunately, the excitement that this video produces does not last too long. The truth is, it is quite boring and offers very little in both entertainment and replay value. The feature begins with a very short monologue discussing the popularity of the Playmate calendar over the course of its history and how the tradition is being brought to life via the video calendar. Following are brief credits with a pinup picture of the twelve featured playmates. The remainder of the video calendar is divided into twelve main chapters, which correspond to the playmates' pictorials.

The various pictorials feature the girls in different settings in scantily clad clothing or in the buff. For instance, Sara Jean Underwood has a summer scene complete with lemonade and a bath. The girls also provide brief monologues that are filled with 'important' information about themselves, such as their vitals, personal interests, likes, dislikes, and so on.

Overall, I was less than excited with this DVD. For a couple minutes it had my interest, but the redundancy and the lack of anything really happening (besides girls getting undressed) I just lost all interest. This is a commonality I have had with Playboy productions. I think if there had been more narration and substance besides catchy music and naked girls, it would have been a most interesting feature. On the plus side, I will say that the editing is done well, the music compliments the mood, and the nude girls are portrayed gracefully.

The DVD

Video:
The feature is presented in 1.33:1 ratio full screen color. The quality is pretty good with a clean picture and rich colors. However, there are portions with slight grain and noticeable ghosting.

Audio:
The audio is given in 2.0 Dolby digital stereo sound. The sound quality is pretty good, with music coming off very rich.

Extras:
For extras there are several "Playmate Galleries", one for each of the girls. The galleries have assorted nude pictures of the girls.

Final Thoughts:
Like the 2005 video calendar, I found the 2007 to be of little interest. My main problem is that the content gets old quick. There is not much substance or anything else (besides the girls in the buff) to keep your attention. Unless you have enjoyed previous Playboy releases, this one should probably be at the bottom of your list.
