The Movie: Nice, France. Russian criminal Mikhail (Jean-Claude Van Damme0 is chased through the streets by crooked FBI agents Pellman and Loomis. He is killed in a car accident. Called onto the scene is Inspector Sebastien Thierry and his partner Alain Moreau (Van Damme)--who looks exactly like the dead man! This prompts Alain to dig into Mikhail's past and discovers that they are twin brothers--seperated at birth. Alain comes to the USA to track down the people involved in Mikhail's life. He meets and falls for his spunky girlfriend, Alex (Natasha Henstridge of "Species"). They team up to bring down the FBI agents responsible for Mikhail's death, while also evading the Russian Mob--whom Mikhail had been a part of. The finale takes place in Nice again, where Mikhail had left Alain mucho moolah, evidence against the FBI and the Mob and a nice big gun--which he uses to kill the villains. In the end, Alain and Alex stay together.

The Video: Columbia/TriStar Home Video has done another fantastic job in transferring the print to DVD. It is sharp, detailed and clear. The movie's textured cinematography is given its due here.

The Sound: Ditto the aural aspects. Clear as a bell. I felt every punch, kick, bullet and explosiion like I was in the flick. Now that's entertainment!

The Extras: Here is where CTHV needs some work. Trailers and production notes are nice, but how about a featurette/documentary? I'm sure that Columbia must've put one together. Where is it? Gimme...gimme...gimme!

Conclusion:All in all, this one's a good disc to own. "Maximum Risk" is also one of Van Damme's better efforts. Add it to the collection, or you'll get a kick in the head!
