Review by Chuck Arrington | posted February 27, 2000 | E-mail the Author
Synopsis: Audio: The disc boasts both Dolby 5.1 Digital & DTS audio tracks! The soundtrack is incredible!!! Eric clapton scored the film with music that really accentuated the telling of the story. The songs & incidental music became a character all it's own & really lent an incredible amount of atmosphere to the film. As such the surrounds are liberally used & the sub while not the center of attention does get used, although not as much as it could have been. The other great aspect of this audio presentation is the Director's commentary by Rob Reiner. Not only is he a great actor/director but his commentary is equally great. Reiner takes you through each stage of the film & identifies the subtle nuances he employed to get the desired effects in the film. He's really a great commentator as well.

Video: The video is a beautiful Widescreen anamorphic presentation that sparkles. I did notice some white flecks near the end of the film during an interview segment with Katie but, other than that the picture ws beautiful.

Extras: Loaded disc Alert! the spotlight on location is very nice with interviews & location secrets provided by the cast & crew. There are bonus trailers for Klumps, the Nutty Proffessor sequel scheduled for summer 2000 & Rocky & Bullwinkle. the ususal production notes, cast & filmmakers bios & the theatrical trailer for the movie.

Overall: I loved this movie! Bruce Willis does a great job in this role & is under utilized as a greatly talented actor. He was really believable as the suffering husband. Likewise Michelle Pfeiffer is simply dazzling in her role. The Story of us is really a great introspective glance into the disfunction that effects all too many families. The really wonderful point of the film is sometimes all it takes is to recognize the mistake, apologize & grow from the experience. More importantly, don't let the magic you once found in your mate fade away in to the past, leaving only the bitter magic-less blah of everyday life. Great movie, one of Reiner's best.
