Synopsis: When a controversial radio personality is brutally murdered by masked assassins, FBI undercover agent Cathy Weaver (Debra Winger) is called upon to infiltrate the KKK and form a relationship with the prime suspect as played by Tom Berenger. Her relationship with Berenger's character leads to a romantic link that Confuses her judgement. Could this handsome widower be the hatemonger he is suspected of being? With her judgment compromised her allegiance to her Country is in question. As such the quandry she has found herself in is not easily exited. Given the awful truth she is about to find out, Will she betray the man she has come to love or will she defend the Country she has sworn to protect? Only time will tell for at the end of the day one of them will certainly be betrayed.

Audio: This is one of MGM's earlier titles. As such they included a stereo surround platform that does fairly well. A little light in some spots, it generally presents the aural textures you'd expect from a charged drama of this type. There is no sub activity whatsoever. 5.1 is a wonderful element that you really miss when you don't have it.

Video: The disc boasts both the widescreen & full frame formats for the feature. I chose the widescreen version because I really don't care for full frame presentations. I did find a fair amount of flecking & even a small amount of pixellation toward the middle of the film. The film was also quite soft in a couple of instances. Not the best quality but not the worst either way. In any event it's definitely not reference quality.

Extras: The extras on the disc or shall I say extra is the film's trailer. Which is also in pretty poor shape.

Overall: Betrayed is one of those films that relies heavily on our most basic dislikes to get the filmmakers points across. Not an exceptional film by any stretch, but it does deliver the goods on its explosive subject matter. I found Betrayed to be a pretty decent flick but I'd never buy it. Because of that, I think its better off in the rental store than the home collection
