The film:

Along with "The Transformers", "Looney Tunes" and a few others, "Tom and Jerry" is a cartoon that I fondly remember watching almost every day when I was little. Everyone is likely familiar with the cat and mouse team that chased each other through a series of cartoons. Most likely also remember the creative ways in which Jerry(the mouse) was able to hurt Tom(the cat) from episode to episode. Included on this disc are: "The Cat Concerto," "Johann Mouse," "The Little Orphan," "Yankee Doodle Mouse," "Salt Water Tabby," "Tee for Two," "Solid Serenade," "Zoot Cat," "Johann Mouse," "Dr. Jekyll" and Mr. Mouse," "Mouse in Manhattan," "Kitty Foiled," "The Little Orphan," and "Jerry's Diary." All of the episodes add up to about 100 minutes worth of episodes.

While the video quality is certainly not flawless, it's better than I'd have expected for cartoons this old. Some of the episodes to fare better than others, but in general, the image quality(all are full-frame) is very good. Colors manage to still look good after all these years, and the only thing really keeping this from being very good is the fact that there are some slight scratches on the print used for each.As one might expect from older cartoons like this, the sound quality is not all that great, with the audio sounding generally clear, but somewhat thin at times.

Although there's not much in the way of extra features("The Worry Song" with Jerry from the movie "Anchors Away), I still would like to recommend this disc. There's some great episodes included in this collection that I remember watching when I was young, and I hope parents will introduce this classic cartoon to their kids. After watching "Pokemon: The Movie", I have to say I found watching "Tom and Jerry" so much more entertaining...and unlike "Pokemon", it actually makes sense.

Grade:B-
