Review by John Crossen | posted January 5, 2000 | E-mail the Author
The Movie:
La Femme Nikita tells the story of a young woman involved in street crime a drugs who is given a second chance to work for the French government to avoid be executed. The story of her transformation from an uncontrollable woman to a spy is very intriguing. The depth in which Nikita (Anne Parillaud) is portrayed is quite chilling her character can be elicit pity and anger quite easily. She falls in love with a store clerk, then must lead a double life as an assassin and lover. Overall, an excellent story with great acting.

The Picture:
The picture was quite nice, not noticeable artifacts or grain. The movie makes use of darker shades in the beginning of the movie, which look quite nice.

The Sound:
The best way to watch this movie is the original French 5.1 soundtrack with English subtitles. An English 5.1 track is also provided.

The Extras:
The one bad thing about this disc is a complete lack of extras … not even a trailer. The one bonus feature is a Dolby Digital 5.1 trailer

Conclusion:
A great movie and a solid DVD. The lack of extras are the only downside, but it is worth getting for the movie alone. Ideally a SE disc will be released at some point in the future, but that will most likely not happen for quite some time, if at all.
