Say One For Me (Fox Cinema Archives)
Wrong again.
20th Century-Fox's Cinema Archives vault of hard-to-find cult and library titles has released Say One For Me, the 1959 musical romantic comedy directed by Frank Tashlin, and starring Bing Crosby, Debbie Reynolds, Robert Wagner, and Ray Walston. Say One For Me was originally shot in 2.35:1 CinemaScope. Here, it's presented in a panned-and-scanned 4 x 3 transfer. Fox has been all over the map with these Cinema Archives releases (I just reviewed Sons and Lovers and it was anamorphic widescreen--a rarity for them), and information on the web is sketchy about which titles are botched. So, in an effort to aid buyers who don't know what titles are correctly transfered...skip this release of Say One For Me, because there's no excuse for releasing a panned-and-scanned transfer of a widescreen movie in 2013.
