How Does It Look?
MGM presents a 1.85:1 non-anamorphic version of the film as well as an open matte full frame transfer for your viewing option. I viewed the widescreen version and the quality of the transfer, I'm sad to say, is pretty poor. The original master does not appear to have been cleaned up before transfer and there are obvious signs of wear and tear and unfortunately pixelation occurs throughout th film.

How Does It Sound?
A Dolby 2.0 Surround soundtrack features dialogue that sounds overly compressed and a bit thin. The music is less harsh but the limits of the soundtrack are obvious.

Extras, Extras, Extras!
The original theatrical trailer and a collectible booklet are all that are on the short list of "extras" on this disc.

Wrap Up:
Released in 1987, No Way Out is a bit dated, with obvious advances in technology portrayed in the film. Despite this it still stands up as a great thriller and is definitely under-appreciated in the list of Kevin Costner's filmography. This is a great movie with an unfortunately not so great DVD presentation. Brought down by the poor image and sound, No Way Out rates as Recommended based on the merits of the film itself.
