THE MOVIE

Let's be honest – no one buys a movie from Seduction Cinema because they are looking for great acting with a great storyline. We buy it because we want to see some skin, and in most cases, a little girl-on-girl softcore action. And The Witches of the Sappho Salon delivers nicely. In fact, it's probably about the best one could expect from such a title.

The movie begins thirty years in the past, where we see a young virgin being sacrificed at the hands of a witch named Tanith (played by Brigitte Eyes). We discover that the witches who run this salon (another female played by Elina Bellbrook and a male witch) must make this sacrifice every thirty years, but they must find a virgin who was born on a certain date at a certain time.

Well, the movie jumps ahead 30 years, putting us in modern times – in which, as I'm sure you're aware, a virgin is very hard to find (my apologies to ladies of virtue out there and, of course, geeky guys like myself)! But one day stunning blonde Janet Fontaine (played by Elizabeth Grace) comes waltzing into the salon, and the witches finally have their prime candidate. Fortunately for Janet, she has a boyfriend (and a frustrated one, given the fact that Janet's a virgin!) who is looking out for her better interests. The question is: will he be able to unravel the mysteries of the salon before the witches seduce Janet into becoming their next victim?

But you don't want to hear about the story, do you? You want to know about the nudity and sex? Yeah, I thought so. The answer is that for a softcore movie, The Witches of the Sappho Salon goes about as far as it can while still remaining in R-Rated territory. The best scenes involve the witches trying to seduce Janet into their lesbian lifestyle – and I have to admit that the heat level between the women was as intense (although obviously not as graphic) as you'll find in any adult film (not that I would watch such material…wink, wink!).

So, if you're looking for something sexy that doesn't crossover into the hardcore area, The Witches of the Sappho Salon may be just the title you've been looking for.

THE DVD

Video:
The movie appears to have been shot on high-grade video instead of film (although I could be mistaken), and is quite sharp for a release from this studio. There was no obvious evidence of pixilation or other problems with the transfer. The movie is presented full-frame, and seems to be presented in its original aspect ratio, since this is a direct-to-video title.

Audio:
The audio here is 2.0 Dolby, and sounds quite clear and crisp. It's not going to knock your socks off, being only in 2.0 – but it's quite adequate for this type of title.

Extras:
The most interesting extra here is the Bonus Movie that has been added to this DVD. It's a 1993 title called The Witching and it appears to be a movie made by a college student film class, although those who view it may think it was made by their little brother using his weekly allowance. In other words, The Witching is really, really low budget, with really, really bad acting! I'm guessing most reading this review could pick up their video camera, grab a few friends and improvise a better movie than what we see here, but it is perhaps an example of how anybody can make a film…albeit a very bad one!

Also on the DVD is a Behind The Scenes segment, which can be viewed from the menu or can be seen following the end credits of the feature. There's also a number of Trailers for other movies available from Seduction Cinema.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Granted, it's not going to win any awards for either quality or DVD presentation – but The Witches of the Sappho Salon is one of Seduction Cinema's better releases, and fans of the studio should be quite happy with what they get here.
