Eden's Bowy - Nowhere to Run (Vol. 3)
Episode 11: Rubeet:
Yorn and the old man finally reach the town where Yorn's mother is supposed to be at but they find the town almost deserted. The old man is familiar with the town and apparently stayed here some time ago. They reunite with Elisiss and find themselves trapped in a bar when Yulgaha military forces attempt to capture the princess. Assasins from Yanuess try to kill the team and capture her as well which makes for a confusing battle. On another front, we see another God Hunter arise, an older, more experienced one who is being manipulated to seek out Yorn.
Episode 12: Behind The Door:
The battle wages on, can even Seeda, with new and improved powers, save the team? A coup de tat revolts against the government in an effort to press the advantage of all the missing officials. There were more revelations about the supporting characters too.
Episode 13: Angel's Decision:
The revolution fails and its aftermath becomes apparent to all. Hairra and the old man end up on the same side during the struggle in the town while Yorn and Spike prepare to fight a duel to the finish. With the kinds of power they each have unleashed, will anything be left when they're through?
Episode 14: The Chase:
Yorn and his traveling companions travel to Yulgaha to rescue Yorn's mother, the princess. They hijack an armored transport, thinking she's in it, only to find out that their efforts were in vain. During their escape from the authorities, they crash and are nearly killed in the wreckage, only to find Spike blocking their path. The two fight again and secrets about Eisiss are hinted at as major chunks of Eden, including one with the team, fall to the planet.
I actually liked this volume a bit more than Volume 2 as some of the mysteries are unveiled, although others take their place, and more of the story comes together. The characters began to grow a bit faster and the plot furthered enough for me to boost the rating back up to Recommended but watch the series in order unless you want to be hopelessly lost. As a stand-alone show, it wouldn't work nearly as well.
Picture: The picture was presented it's original 1.33:1 ratio full frame and was very clear. The colors were accurate and any minor problems with the picture were barely noticeable. I didn't see many compression artifacts.
Sound: The sound was presented in Dolby Digital stereo with a choice of 5.1 English, English with song subtitles, or the original Japanese with English subtitles. The vocals and music were very clear and solidly produced. I liked the way the music was integrated into the show and their was some really good use of directionality with the stereo separation.
Extras: trailers, clean opening and closing sequence, and a paper insert with art
Final Thoughts: I was not pleased that the dvd had fewer episodes and no increase in extras but it's starting to grow on me so the value considerations weren't as important. As long as a release has at least four episodes, I'm not too fussy. The technical issues were minimal and the show had some real fun to it so my rating seems reasonable. I can only hope the next two volumes in the series continue to improve.
