Movie: As the anime market continues to explode, there are a lot more choices for fans of the genre to pick from. Some of those choices are best suited for children, others for fans of action, and still others for a more adult taste (to name but three). In a recent release from ADV, Najica Blitz Tactics 3, the company manages to combine the spy action of Noir, the android adventures of Pioneer's Heat Guy J, and the panty fetish of Colorful. This is the third and final volume of the series If you're looking for some light-hearted fun, read on.

The show details the adventures of a woman, Najica Hiragi, who is a wealthy perfumier by day and a secret agent by night. A Humaritt android by the name of Lila joins her as the two take on a series of missions to further the side of good in its war with evil. All in all, it's not an overly serious show although there was a lot of killing going on, and I hope the perverts out there will give the show a chance.

Mission 9: The Brave Desert Lion With The Goddess:
Najica and Lila are sent on a recovery mission to a middle eastern kingdom. The daughter of the Queen is running a militant faction of a rebellion and is guarded by a Humaritt from the same series as Lila. A problem arises when the Humaritt, Elith, starts acting as though she had her own mind. While the possibilities for Lila appear better than ever for her own independence, Elith's future is far less certain.

Mission 10: The Final Destination Of The Battle With Dangerous Love:
Najica and Lila are sent on a protection mission this time rather than just a recovery mission. Gento, the team's contact, has a friend in danger, a scientist by the name of Yoshiki and his wife-model Humaritt, Serina. The one wanting to cause the good man harm is Dr. Renika Ren, the missing creator of all Humaritts.

Mission 11: A Farewell Mission With The Young Girl's Cordiality:
Shinba Industrial launches an attack on the newly discovered laboratory of Dr. Ren and the team is sent in to protect the doctor after finding him. The place is in an abandoned city and protected by an army of Humaritts. Will Lila succumb to the possible control over her by her creators or will Najica find a way to accomplish the mission without losing Lila?

Mission 12: A Gorgeous Agent With The Rose Of Destiny In Her Heart:
In part two of the last mission, the team finds itself up against all odds with Najica hurt and Lila trying to rescue her charge, Alpha. The battle above ground continues with the Shinba forces pinned down. In the end, Najica gives Lila a test to see if she can overcome her orders, with the decision meaning she can't continue under Najica's wing any more (or one of them dying).

Okay, the show is fairly harmless fun and about half of the scenes are viewed from the point of view of a 3-foot tall midget in order to continually show panties and up-skirt shots. I think it still merits a rating of Recommended for the same reasons I enjoyed the First and Second Volume, it's not a perfect show but it does have the right amount of laughs to leers that some of us are looking for.

Picture: The picture was presented in 1.33:1 ratio full frame format as originally shot. It was fairly clear with a lack of detail in many scenes and a somewhat faded look to the print. It wasn't great looking but good enough for a guilty pleasure. The DVD transfer was solid enough with only a few artifacts and other visual problems (some patterns shimmered).

Sound: The sound was presented with a choice of either Dolby Digital 5.1 English or 2.0 stereo Japanese with optional English subtitles. I preferred the original tracks for my preliminary viewing but the English tracks had some additional value themselves. In some of the fight sequences, the 5.1 track was better but overall, both had their own flavor.

Extras: The best extra was the audio commentary by Director David Williams, Kira Vincent Davis and Monica Rial . I think Mr. Williams played well off the wacky gals and their goofing off (lots of innuendoes and a few swear words missed getting censored). The second best extra included a short feature on the music behind the series (it was only a video of the band playing the music but it was cute to watch-if limited in scope). There were the usual trailers, production sketches, clean opening and closing, and paper insert that didn't provide much information at all.

Final Thoughts: The show was certainly cute enough to recommend as a guilty pleasure and it did have enough light hearted humor to watch with a bunch of friends, preferably with ample amounts of alcohol flowing at the same time. It looked good enough and provided enough of a diversion that I could almost hope that a revised concept be put into production where the team get back together and save the world. If that ever happens though, I think the concept should move to a G-String theme instead of a panty theme (just to keep up with the times y'know). I'm sure Monica and Kira wouldn't mind modeling in them for a good extra.
