Synopsis:

Back of the box spin: John "Thunderbolt" Doherty (Clint Eastwood)is a former thief whose razor-sharp wits and steely nerves made him the master of his chosen profession-theft. But, he's about to reenter the criminal world with a new partner: Lightfoot (Jeff Bridges), a brash young drifter whose energy and exuberance give the veteran a new outlook on life. Their target: the seemingly impenetrable Montana Armored Depository. After forming an uneasy yet comical alliance with Thunderbolt's former partners in crime (George Kennedy & Geoffrey Lewis), they launch an amazing scheme that will test the limits of their endurance…and the power of their friendship. Fueled by explosive action, fascinating characters and a powerfully moving climax, Thunderbolt & lightfoot is an adventure of the highest caliber.

Audio:

The audio for the feature is the only real let down. It's a mono platform that at times can be quite tinny. The overall audio effect is unsupported and is in a word rather …blah. Overall, it's more of a flat sound than a rounded out audio feel. The movie is still entirely watchable & entirely enjoyable however, the audio just doesn't have the punch that the film does!

Video:

The video for Thunderbolt is presented in Widescreen only and is a pretty decent transfer. It's not the best transfer only decent. The problems with the transfer are flecks & markings throughout the print coupled with pixelation in the darker scenes. While the image is fairly clean, the colors are a bit on the pale side. Whether that was the trend of the time or just the ravages of aged film, I can't tell. Other than these errors the print is fine.

Extras:

The only extra contained on the disc is the film's theatrical trailer. It's quite long, roughly 2 minutes in length and in roughly the same shape as the film itself.

Overall:

Thunderbolt & Lightfoot is one heck of a good film! The combination of actors is incredible & you will find yourself laughing for days at some of their hijinks! Let it also be said that the film has it's share of tragedy as no true adventure of this type would be complete without it. Truly, there are no winners in this story. Clint Eastwood is a great actor & her he has managed to surround himself with a bevy of great supporting actors. From Kennedy to Lewis, to Bridges, the hits just keep on comin' the film never loses its pace. Great action, adventures & story. Definitely recommended.
