When the bodies of the Wardens are discovered savagely stabbed to death in their own bed, Sheriff Mitch Rivers calls in a favor to his old friend, Dr. Jake Rainer (Dreyfuss), a retired psychologist. The Warden's nine-year-old autistic son Tim (Faulkner) is found at the murder scene holding the knife used to kill his parents, and his eighteen-year-old sister Sylvie (Tyler) is found unconscious upstairs in a closet. Rivers believes that Tim was the only eyewitness to the murder, and as he has no other clues or evidence, he needs Tim's memories to uncover the killer. Rainer is charged with this difficult task of unlocking these memories using his conventional methods; if he fails, Dr. Harlinger (Lithgow) will use a dangerous new drug on Tim in order to get at the truth – no matter what the cost to Tim.

I found Silent Fall to be a very enjoyable suspense thriller filled with numerous twists and turns that left me guessing. The actors were all terrific in their roles, although it was disappointing that Hamilton had only a small part, as Rainer's wife.

Picture:
Silent Fall is presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen. For the most part, the print looks terrific with vibrant colors and accurate flesh tones. However, there are some marks and visible grain that occasionally appear. Also worth noting is that the black level is not as rich in the darker scenes of the film.

Sound:
Silent Fall is presented in both English and French Dolby Surround 5.1. The movie is mainly dialogue driven and doesn't yield itself to a lot of surround sound. However, it is utilized for background voices, weather elements, etc. The dialogue is also crisp and clean.

Extras:
Extras include nice motion menus, six cast bios, four trailers, and optional subtitles in English, French, and Spanish. The trailers included are: Incognito, Pacific Heights, True Romance, and the main feature, Silent Fall.

Summary:
Fans of suspense thriller movies need look no further than Silent Fall to help satisfy their craving. Recommended.
