For those of you who have never been formally introduced, meet the Bundy's. Al Bundy (Ed O'Neill) is a somewhat loving husband and father of two children. He's a former high school football star turned woman's shoe salesman. His wife Peggy (Katey Sagal) is his high school sweetheart. A gal that once used to be the shine of the school, but now is the house wife who spends a bit too much time in front of the television and shopping than she does "caring" for her family and home. As said Al and Peggy have two kids, Kelly (Christina Applegate) and Bud (David Faustino). Kelly is a young girl in her late teens, a bit too friendly with the boys, and not the brightest gal. Bud is in his early teens and a bit of a pervert. Well along with the kids there's Buck, the family dog who's at the point in his life where he just lies around the house. Well the Bundy family doesn't end quite there, though not really family, their neighbors Marcy (Amanda Bearse) and Steve Rhoades (David Garrison) tend to spend a great deal of time with the Bundy's. But really if you don't know the Bundy's, you're missing out.

Back when Married With Children first aired it was considered to be an outrageous series. However after a very successful first season [review] of 12 episodes, the Bundy's returned in season 2 with 22 great episodes. Similarly the series returned year after year until they finished in 1997, closing with a total of 11 seasons. Over the course this time frame America grew to love the highly dysfunctional family. Why? Well the Bundy family gets themselves in some sticky situations, bad predicaments, and downright bad luck which results in a great deal of comedy.

For instance in the two part episode Poppy's By the Three, Al takes the family to the most luxurious hotel in Dumpwater, Florida. Little do the Bundy's know that an axe wielding maniac that murders annoying tourists and happens to only strike every five years. Sadly for the Bundy's, it happens to have been five years since the last murder. In Build a Better Mousetrap Al and Steve let their pride get the best of them. The Bundy household seems to be plagued by a single mouse. Al and Steve take it upon themselves to catch this rodent. After destroying a bit of the house and even poisoning themselves, the mouse still roams. Then in Just Married... With Children after Al and Peggy steal the Rhoades's mail, they find a notice for Marcy and Steve to contend on a game show "How Do I Love The..." where newly wedded couples are tested in the depth of their love and devotion for one another. Those willing to sacrifice their love and put their significant others in harmful situations leave with the prizes.

Video:
This feature is presented in its original television aspect of 1.33:1 ratio full frame color. The picture quality is fairly decent, but it's not good. There is significant evidence that during the feature that the video is highly compressed. Cramming Discs 1 and 2 with nine episodes each and putting the last four on Disc 3 impacted the picture quality. There picture quality is for the most part a bit grainy and suffers from slight color defects. However it looks just as good as what you'd find on television.

Sound:
The audio in this feature is presented in English 2.0 Dolby digital stereo. The sound quality is quite good and can be easily heard throughout the feature. I had no difficulty hearing dialogue.

Subtitles:
There are no subtitles presented with this feature. However the feature is closed caption enabled for the hearing impaired.

Extras:
The extras included in this feature are claimed thirteen short clips of interviews with the entire cast and some trailers. The claimed thirteen (actually only twelve or maybe I couldn't find it, I analyzed the structure of the DVD's just to make sure...) interview extras are "hidden" Easter eggs that can be found by navigating the menus on the discs as follows:

Final Thoughts:
Married With Children has become some what of an American icon, with Al Bundy sitting on his terribly old couch in front of his terribly old television set with his hand down his pants. That one dictation is a comical image that burns in our minds with laughter. Season 2 of Married With Children features hours of laughs and great fun. I grew up watching the series and now being able to revisit the Bundy family has been a wonderful experience. I greatly look forward to seeing the rest of the series on DVD.
