The Movie:
Deliverance (1972) is about four normal guys traveling into the wilderness to go down an untamed river in Georgia in canoes. Based on the novel by Deliverance by James Dickey, with a script he wrote himself, it is a story about mans arrogance in the face of nature. The men think they can tame the river, but in the end, the river tames them. Sometimes disturbing, but altogether a good movie, Deliverance isn't for everyone.

Picture and Sound:
The picture quality is excellent for a movie this old. The studio really did quite a job in producing this DVD. The sound is also excellent, remastered into Dolby Digital 5.1. Hearing "Dueling Banjos" in surround is nice - that is also one of the best scenes from the movie.

The Extras:
While not amazing, it's good to see them at least put no-brainer things on there like production notes and a "Making of" Documentary. While not as good as commentary, the extras are at least decent.

Conclusion:
Deliverance is definitely not for everyone. It is a somewhat violent movie, and disturbing at times, but if you like this kind of adventure film, then I'd give it a shot. It's also another fine example of an older movie transferred to DVD that has really had some work put into the transfer. Unlike some other Warner Brothers DVDs (such as Spies Like Us) where the transfer seems to have been done from a 2 head VCR.
