NBA LIVE 2001: THE MUSIC VIDEOS

Gameplan:

Who doesn't love those videos showing the best dunks, assists, blocks, you name it. They are all slamming and make the experience of watching a great Basketball game even better. In the NBA Live 2001 disc roughly 10 artists from De La Soul to Shaggy have videos that accompany some of the best highlights of the current season and some great shots of times past. Hosted by Kevin Garnett #21 Minnesota Timberwolves, The NBA LIVE takes us all over basketball as only an insider can. Now, Kevin knows B-ball and Jimmy Jam Knows music so these two became an unbeatable combination in their presentation of some of the hottest music videos incorporating the hottest action on the court. As this is an all Minnesota thing, the disc would not be complete without a message of welcome by the Governor of Minnesota, Mr. Jesse "The Body" Ventura himself! While I thoroughly enjoyed the disc, nothing could equal the sight of my one-year old son bouncing and jumping with every beat of the music played! Great disc with some incredible visuals.

Announcer's Booth/Jumbotron

The audio is presented in a slammin' DD5.1 that really delivers the goods for the films' pretty incredible aural content. All of the music and vocals from the floor and comments by the athletes are easily understood. There is really no surround presence that you'd expect in a cinematic effort; rather the listening area is enveloped in the rich tapestry of the musical presentation. The video was equally impressive. Most of it was shot in widescreen and on film. The shots from the individual games varied in quality. While they were all good, some were incredibly clean and brilliant where, others where not quite as eye catching.

Assists:

The extras on the disc consist of five short segments. Each no longer than 8-minutes max. Kevin Garnett: The Big Ticket Showcases Garnett's prowess on the court and his growth as a person and player since leaving high school in 1995 to join the NBA Draft. 2000's Ten Best Assists 2000's Ten Best Blocks 2000's Ten Best Dunks 2000' Ten Best of the WNBA Each one of these sections boasts a kick-butt song that accompanies some of the most incredible athletic feats on the court. One of the nicer segments was a retrospective showcasing some true Basketball greats like, George "The Iceman" Gervin, Julius "#6" Erving, Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, Kevin Mchale, Magic Johnson, Kareem-Abdul Jabaar, you name it, if they were awesome, they made it into this segment and it was extremely well done and a tribute to the magic they lent to the game. Another wonderful item though not basketball related, was Jimmy Jam's palatial estate. Talk about a house…ooooooooowweeeee!! Anyway, back to reality, great extras!

End of the Game

Simply put, if you dig all those NBA commercials and the game itself as well as the characters it's players become, you'll love this disc. It's a lot of fun, there's incredible music, incredible action and a collection of some of the most awesome basketball shots assembled. You can't go wrong with this one! Highly Recommended
