Kung Pow on DVD

For some reason we've gotten more 'fan' mail over our pan of Kung-Pow than almost any other movie we've covered. So even though we think Kung-Pow is terribly unfunny, we thought we'd let you know that it was coming to DVD (as it does seem there are a good number of very ardent fans of this film). Set for release on July 23 Kung-Pow: Enter The Fist Chosen One Edition DVD will feature director commentary, two full-length alternate dialogue tracks, 12 deleted scenes, six scenes with alternate dialogue, foreign language clips, a visual effects "before and after" reel, "making of" featurette, photo gallery, trailer and more. Who knows maybe on DVD with alternate dialogue we'll come away with a different impression of Kung-Pow (or maybe not).

We thought we'd share some of the letters we've gotten since our first review of Kung-Pow ran:

Subject: Your review of Kung Pow: Enter The Fist
I read your review of 'Kung Pow: Enter The Fist' and...You can't really review this film in it's proper context, without seeing THUMB WARS, THE BLAIR THUMB, and THUMBTANIC. All are from the director/star of Kung Pow, Steve Odekerk. Then you can review all you want.

I read your review of 'Kung Pow: Enter The Fist' and...u have a warped sense of humor. that is the single funniest movie i've ever seen and not for one moment did i think anything negative about it. i have a friend like you that insisted the movie was horrible. i'm convinced that people who believe this movie was not funny need to really broaden their comedic horizons. the movie didn't succeed b/c there are still too many people like you left in america who haven't yet expanded their senses of humor. oedekerk is brilliant, he just needed to realize some people dont appreciate or understand this humor yet, prime example...geoffrey kleinman

Subject: Your review of Kung Pow: Enter The Fist
I read your review of 'Kung Pow: Enter The Fist' and... What the hell is your problem? It was one of the most creative movies I've ever seen. If you can't understand it, because you're a fat ass who watches porn all day, that's your problem. I mean, if this isn't funny to you, what the hell is? I bet you eat Cheetos in your boxers while watching I Love Lucy every day after giving movies bad reviews... and you think to yourself, "Muwhahaha, I'm fat and I like to masturbate to I Love Lucy... because I'm FAT!" And then you pass out from taking too many anti-depressants, which is probably the only thing keeping you from not disliking I Love Lucy too. Okay, so what exactly IS funny to you? I'm seriously asking. I want you to get your fat ass to type me an e-mail explaining to me what YOU think is funny. You know what I think is funny? -your picture that you included in your profile. Lay off the Cheetos and porn, buddy. Masturbating can only burn so many calories.
