This week the DVD Savant has reviews of Zorba the Greek - Earthy Zorba takes charge of noodly Englishman Alan Bates in this very uneven drama with some strangely savage scenes that sink the Greek high spirits, Goodfellas - Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Ray Liotta chill the blood as wiseguys with zero sense of self discipline. One of Scorsese's best and possibly the best film ever made about the Mob, Chastity - Sonny Bono tries to supply Cher with an edgy vehicle in this well-intentioned but mind-numbing exercise in 'serious' filmmaking. See Cher visit a Mexican brothel! Whoopee! 7 Days in September - A good DVCam docu filmed by 23 individual video chroniclers of the 9/11 attack and the week that followed in New York city. Darned gripping and a good record of unforgettable days and Darby O'Gill and the Little People - Disney DVD fibs a bit in the Aspect Ratio department but comes through with a thoroughly enjoyable disc of one of Walt's live-action favorites.
