DVD Savant - The Big Red One, The Plot Against Harry and Divorce Italian Style
More great reviews this week from DVD Savant including: The Big Red One - The Reconstruction - Critic Richard Schickel finishes the movie that Lorimar took away from Sam Fuller 25 years ago; The Plot Against Harry - a wonderful oddball comedy released in 1989-90 after sitting on the shelf for twenty years; Divorce Italian Style - Criterion makes a major cultural event out of Pietro Germi's black comedy about a Sicilian who has no choice but to murder his wife; Do You Remember Dolly Bell? - Emir Kusturica tells an odd tale of teens growing up in the depressed economy of Communist Yugoslavia, with the same interests and desires as western kids; Punishment Park - a notorious radical film that invents a Nixon-initiated concentration camp / killing ground for subversive draft evaders and other threats to the national security; The Entity - it's supernatural sex, with lots of hot stuff! Excellent acting from Barbara Hershey keeps this exploitative psychic drama about an ectoplasmic rapist from becoming a major insult. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
