DVD Talk Radio - Bradley Beesley Interview - The Flaming Lips Documentary
After fifteen years of working with, filming and hanging out with the Flaming Lips, documentary filmmaker Bradley Beesley has assembled one of the most intimate and unique looks at a rock band ever to hit the screen. The Fearless Freaks - The Wondrously Improbably Story of The Flaming Lips [Review] pulls back the curtain and gives you a look at the real lives and people behind one the most creative and interesting bands performing today. In addition to speaking with Bradley Beesly about The Fearless Freaks we also make sure to cover Okie Noodling [Review], Bradley's previous documentary about bare-handed catfishing. Listen to the complete interview with Bradley Beesley using our Online DVD Talk Radio Player or Download the complete interview (12min 6MB). Also be sure to listen to our recent interviews on DVD Talk Radio with Wildboyz Chris Pontius, John Flansburgh from They Might Be Giants, Primer Director Shane Carruth, James L. DVD Savant - The Big Red One, The Plot Against Harry and Divorce Italian Style
More great reviews this week from DVD Savant including: The Big Red One - The Reconstruction - Critic Richard Schickel finishes the movie that Lorimar took away from Sam Fuller 25 years ago; The Plot Against Harry - a wonderful oddball comedy released in 1989-90 after sitting on the shelf for twenty years; Divorce Italian Style - Criterion makes a major cultural event out of Pietro Germi's black comedy about a Sicilian who has no choice but to murder his wife; Do You Remember Dolly Bell? - Emir Kusturica tells an odd tale of teens growing up in the depressed economy of Communist Yugoslavia, with the same interests and desires as western kids; Punishment Park - a notorious radical film that invents a Nixon-initiated concentration camp / killing ground for subversive draft evaders and other threats to the national security; The Entity - it's supernatural sex, with lots of hot stuff! Excellent acting from Barbara Hershey keeps this exploitative psychic drama about an ectoplasmic rapist from becoming a major insult. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

CineSchlock-O-Rama: House of Wax
Who's hot? You are if, like DVD Talk columnist G. Noel Gross, you suffered through all six of Paris Hilton's podcasts peddling the latter-day scream siren's House of Wax remake. Don't think you could bear such a 40-minute brain drain? Fear not, Noel's self-sacrifice is once again offered for your amusement. But if you're hankering for something decidedly more on the sublime side of vapid -- may we humbly suggest our very own DVD Talk Radio?
