DVD Savant: King Kong, Newsfront and Crooked Hearts
This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: King Kong (2005 theatrical review) - Kong's back and Denham's got him! Peter Jackson's colossal, stupendous Skull Island remake is going to thrill audiences like no adventure before; Barbra Streisand The Television Specials - classic TV and a treasure for her fans, as a couple of these haven't been seen in over 40 years; Crooked Hearts - The Warren family earns a "D" for Dysfunctional: They're nice people but they celebrate failure and deny dark secrets that aren't going to go away; Newsfront - a stirring account of the newsreel business earned every Australian award they've got but is virtually unknown in the United States; Ride Beyond Vengeance -
Sixties medium-budget westerns took a big dip in quality, and this Chuck Connors effort is a disaster in almost every department despite its name cast. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
