TV on DVD Reviews: Boston Legal, Deadwood, and The Venture Bros
Some great TV
on DVD releases reviewed this week including: Boston Legal:
S1 - David E. Kelley strikes TV gold, yet again, with this quirky series that resurrected the careers of James Spader and William Shatner; Deadwood: S2
- this grimy HBO hit series only got better in its second season and the DVD basks in all the show's curse-filled glory; Wings: S1 & 2 - the first two seasons of the show that helped kick-start Thomas Hayden Church's career;
The Venture
Bros.: S1 - another [adult swim] hit that's a completely twisted and subversive nod to old adventure cartoons; The Closer:
S1 - another crime drama set in a big city that separates itself from the pack with some quality characterization; The 4400: S2
- a solid sci-fi show that's trying to fill the void left by the departure of shows like The X-Files; Hill Street
Blues: S2 - a classic crime drama that focused more on the characters than the crimes themselves. Visit the DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted TV on DVD.
