New Movie Reviews: X-Men: The Last Stand, An Inconvenient Truth, and District B13
Aside from one highly-anticipated film, this is a pretty slow week for theatrical releases. Brett Ratner's big release, however, is interesting enough to warrant three separate reviews from the DVD Talk review staff. Brian Orndorf, Jamie S. Rich, and Eric D. Snider each tackle the film with their own perspective, but they all ultimately come away with the same conclusion: X-Men: The Last Stand is definitely worth checking out. Jamie's review looks at the film through the eyes of a comic book devotee while Brian's review takes more of your typical moviegoer's approach, and Eric's review goes the standard film critic route. Each review, however, provides some very good insight into what works (and what doesn't) in X-Men: The Last Stand. Not to be overshadowed, two films debut in limited release this weekend. An Inconvenient Truth is a clever documentary bringing to light Al Gore's campaign to make global warming a recognized problem, and District B13 is the the latest exciting entry from producer/writer Luc Besson, who is clearly determined to prove that the French make the best action films. Be sure to catch reviews of other recent Theatrical Films: Over The Hedge, The Da Vinci Code, Mission: Impossible III, and Poseidon. As always, we invite you to share your thoughts on films in theaters in our Movie Talk Forum Area.

TV on DVD Reviews: Boston Legal, Deadwood, and The Venture Bros
Some great TV on DVD releases reviewed this week including: Boston Legal: S1 - David E. Kelley strikes TV gold, yet again, with this quirky series that resurrected the careers of James Spader and William Shatner; Deadwood: S2 - this grimy HBO hit series only got better in its second season and the DVD basks in all the show's curse-filled glory; Wings: S1 & 2 - the first two seasons of the show that helped kick-start Thomas Hayden Church's career; The Venture Bros.: S1 - another [adult swim] hit that's a completely twisted and subversive nod to old adventure cartoons; The Closer: S1 - another crime drama set in a big city that separates itself from the pack with some quality characterization; The 4400: S2 - a solid sci-fi show that's trying to fill the void left by the departure of shows like The X-Files; Hill Street Blues: S2 - a classic crime drama that focused more on the characters than the crimes themselves.
