New DVD Reviews: V for Vendetta, Tristram Shandy, and Patriot Act
Now with over 16,300 DVD reviews in the DVD Talk Review Database, it's easy to overlook some of the great reviews. Recent DVD Reviews include: V for Vendetta: 2-Disc Special Edition - this adaptation of Alan Moore's classic graphic novel is a riveting, intelligent film about the power of citizens versus the power of the state; Tristram Shandy: A Cock & Bull Story - Michael Winterbottom's "playful joke" is an interesting take on the famously "unfilmable book"; Patriot Act: A Jeffrey Ross Home Movie - the hilarious comedian's film about his time in Iraq as part of the USO tour actually turns out to be a surprisingly poignant and touching war documentary; Yi Yi: Criterion - this portrait of humanity as experienced by one Taiwanese family is widely considered one of the best films of the new millennium; Stalingrad - the chilling documentary about Stalingrad's occupation by German forces and the tragic fate of those who fought on the two opposing sides; A Canterbury Tale: Criterion - Powell and Pressburger's take on Chaucer's classic tale comes to DVD via an excellent Criterion treatment.
