DVD Savant: Film Noir Classic Collection 3
This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: Film Noir Classic Collection Vol. 3 - Warners' third time to the noir well gives us a saucy selection of eccentric attractions: Lady in the Lake, Border Incident, His Kind of Woman,The Racket, On Dangerous Ground; Wanda - Barbara Loden's lone independent feature is an affecting and powerful story of an aimless woman picked up by a stick-up man; London - Patrick Keiller's odd commentary-documentary presents London as a place of literary secrets, architectural mysteries and modern political contradictions; Nate and Hayes - This Kiwi freebooter pirate picture got a bad rap in 1983 but plays well now; The Black Swan Fox's 1942 pirate classic has Tyrone Power seducing Maureen O'Hara, great Technicolor photography and a quartet of fun supporting actors; A nos amours - Very highly regarded in France, Maurice Pialat's part-improvised drama is a stunning look at a young girl that takes many lovers, but doesn't seem to be able to fall in love herself. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
