New Movie Reviews: Black Dahlia, Last Kiss, and Gridiron Gang
Brian De Palma returns to the director's chair, after four years away, with the L.A. whodunit The Black Dahlia. Featuring a very solid cast, this long-awaited adaptation of a pulpy James Ellroy novel is a gorgeously-shot return to "full-fledged film noir." The Black Dahlia opens wide this today. Also in theaters this week is The Last Kiss - Zach Braff and Rachel Bilson star in this "upsettingly human," thought-provoking film about temptation and matrimonial anxiety; Gridiron Gang - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson help this underdog sports story overcome its lackluster ending; and Confetti - Debbie Isitt's improvisational mockumentary clearly takes a page out of Christopher Guest's book and manages to be a solid little comedy. Be sure to catch reviews of other recent Theatrical Films: Everyone's Hero, The U.S. vs. John Lennon, Aurora Borealis, Hollywoodland, The Protector, The Covenant, Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles, The Wicker Man, Crank, This Film Is Not Yet Rated, The Quiet, Lassie, Crossover, Trust the Man, Invincible.
