New Movie Reviews: Black Dahlia, Last Kiss, and Gridiron Gang
Brian De Palma returns to the director's chair, after four years away, with the L.A. whodunit The Black Dahlia. Featuring a very solid cast, this long-awaited adaptation of a pulpy James Ellroy novel is a gorgeously-shot return to "full-fledged film noir." The Black Dahlia opens wide this today. Also in theaters this week is The Last Kiss - Zach Braff and Rachel Bilson star in this "upsettingly human," thought-provoking film about temptation and matrimonial anxiety; Gridiron Gang - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson help this underdog sports story overcome its lackluster ending; and Confetti - Debbie Isitt's improvisational mockumentary clearly takes a page out of Christopher Guest's book and manages to be a solid little comedy. Be sure to catch reviews of other recent Theatrical Films: Everyone's Hero, The U.S. vs. John Lennon, Aurora Borealis, Hollywoodland, The Protector, The Covenant, Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles, The Wicker Man, Crank, This Film Is Not Yet Rated, The Quiet, Lassie, Crossover, Trust the Man, Invincible. As always, we invite you to share your thoughts on films in theaters in our Movie Talk Forum Area.

TV on DVD Reviews: The Unit, Commander in Chief and Black. White.
A number of notable TV on DVD releases reviewed this week including: The Unit - Season 1 - a show that was under the radar screen when it aired on TV is a gem of a discovery on DVD; Commander in Chief - The Inaugural Edition, Part 2 - a series which promised a lot but couldn't always deliver, worth watching but probably not owning; TaleSpin, Vol. 1 - one of Disney's strong afternoon series; Black. White. - The make-up effects, though not entirely convincing, are done well enough to make this series a curiosity worth a viewing; Gerald McBoing Boing Adventures - the sheer delight behind these cartoons combined with a bargain price is enough to make this one Recommended. DVD Savant: Wicker Man and The Amazing Mr. X

Clip of The Week: I Am A Sex Addict
This week we have two clips from Caveh Zahedi's I Am A Sex Addict - a unique self confessional film which blends real life, reenactment and sharp humor into one of the best indie films we've seen this year. Caveh Zahedi (who writes, directs and stars in the film) takes a soberingly clear view of his past relationships, deconstructing them in an effort to both chronicle them and to make sense out of his battle with sex addiction. The film features animation by Bob Sabiston (Waking Life), and a rare dramatic performance by legendary French porn star Rebecca Lord. Watch a the trailer for I Am A Sex Addict as well as an exclusive and unedited behind the scenes clip you won't want to miss. (Get more information about The I AM A Sex Addict DVD here). Be sure to catch past week's clips at DVD Talk TV.

New DVD Reviews: The Proposition, Body Double and Grease
Now with over 16,900 DVD reviews in the DVD Talk Review Database, it's easy to overlook some of the great reviews. Recent DVD Reviews include: The Proposition Drenched in blood, sweat and hot dust this is a film that echoes the feeling of classic westerns and it's one of 2006's greatest (and maybe goriest) works; Dark Waters - an atmospheric and creepy horror film that deserves to find a wider audience and No Shame's stellar two disc collector's edition release might just make that happen; United 93 - it's certainly a tough film to sit through, but this chilling film is a fitting tribute to what happened five years ago; Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World- though it's not as insightful and honest nor as consistently funny as Brooks' best films it still has its moments; Body Double: SE - an upgraded disc of Brian DePalma from his days as a certified '70s maverick; Kill Your Idols- a strangely satisfying experience; Shock Treatment - if you can resist trying to compare it to The Rocky Horror Picture Show you'll find yourself enjoying a funny and intelligent musical comedy with some great songs and quirky characters; Grease: Rockin' Rydell Edition - if you wanted more Grease than you got in the first DVD, it's worth replacing your old platter with this new one. Visit the DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.
