New Movie Reviews: Jackass: Number Two, All the King's Men, and Flyboys
Who would have thought that Johnny Knoxville would return to acting crazy and being tortured in Jackass: Number Two? After scoring major roles in some major films, it's a testament to Knoxville's penchant for the dangerous (or maybe he's just a masochist) that he's back at it. Gather all your thrill-seeking friends and check out Knoxville, Steve O, and the rest of the gang as Jackass: Number Two opens wide today. Also in theaters this week is All the King's Men - Sean Penn, Jude Law, and Kate Winslet lead the way in this adaptation of the Robert Penn Warren novel about the life of Louisiana Governor Huey Long; Flyboys - James Franco is the young pilot, Blaine Rawlings, in this romantic drama about the adventures of Lafayette Escadrille; and The Science of Sleep - Michel Gondry follows up his surreal hit Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind with this beautifully ethereal film about one man's dream-like existence. Be sure to catch reviews of other recent Theatrical Films: Fearless, Haven, The Motel, The Black Dahlia, The Last Kiss, Gridiron Gang, Confetti, Everyone's Hero, The U.S. vs. John Lennon, Aurora Borealis, Hollywoodland, The Protector, The Covenant, Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles, The Wicker Man, Crank, This Film Is Not Yet Rated, The Quiet. As always, we invite you to share your thoughts on films in theaters in our Movie Talk Forum Area.

Silent DVD: Leni Riefenstahl's The Blue Light and the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake
This month Silent DVD has a look at two interesting discs. First Leni Riefenstahl makes her directorial debut as well as stars in picturesque movie The Blue Light. A well crafted and entertaining film, it clearly shows the talent that Riefenstahl would later use when directing her most famous films. Next we go back in time 100 years to look at the San Francisco earthquake of 1906 with the aptly titled The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake Cinema Centennial. This disc contains rarely seen films from just before and after the devastating earthquake and fire that killed thousands and nearly destroyed the city. Be sure to check out the previous installments including the 2006 San Francisco Silent Film Festival and the Gloria Swanson and Rudolph Valentino film Beyond the Rocks.
