DVD Savant: Gary Cooper, Godzilla Raids Again and South Pacific
This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: Gary Cooper The Signature Collection - Coop shines in five starring vehicles, two of which number among his most interesting work; South Pacific Collector's Edition - Rodgers & Hammerstein picked Joshua Logan to direct what has become the major Broadway musical adaptation with the best music and worst direction ever; Whoever Says the Truth Shall Die - This 1980 documentary accuses a coverup in the murder of poet / film director Pier Paolo Pasolini, and chronicles his turbulent life; Godzilla Raids Again - Classic Media assembles a classy package that bundles the Japanese original, the American recut and some good extras; Flower Drum Song -
This pleasant but dated Rodgers and Hammerstein musical has famous songs and a delightful pan-Asian cast, but still comes off as something of a fossil; Forgotten Noir 3 -
VCI and Kit Parker come back with a pair of lower-case noirs, Shadow Man and Shoot to Kill. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
