New Movie Reviews: Eastern Promises, Brave One, and Hunting Party
David Cronenberg is back in the director's chair and teaming up again with Viggo Mortensen for Eastern Promises. Naomi Watts joins them in this follow up to the excellent A History of Violence, and it's clear that Cronenberg is "completely in control of his askew vision," making this another memorable film in his oeuvre. Eastern Promises heads into theaters everywhere this weekend. Also in theaters this week is The Brave One - Jodie Foster returns to the big screen in this Neil Jordan revenge flick; The Hunting Party - Richard Shepard follows up his underrated The Matador with this thrilling film starring Richard Gere and Terrence Howard; Dragon Wars (D-War) - a horrid film they tried to hide from critics, but we saw it anyways; and Mr. Woodcock - Billy Bob Thornton leads the way in yet another throwaway comedy. Be sure to catch reviews of other recent Theatrical Films: Hatchet, Shoot 'Em Up, 3:10 to Yuma, The Brothers Solomon, In the Shadow of the Moon, Halloween, Death Sentence, The 11th Hour. As always, we invite you to share your thoughts on films in theaters in our Movie Talk Forum Area.
