DVD Talk Spotlight: Frederick Wiseman
Though indisputably one of the all-time great documentary filmmakers, Wiseman's mesmerizing, uniquely observational work has been as frustratingly elusive on home video as it is monumentally influential. Indeed, his famously controversial Titicut Follies was banned outright for three decades, for years accessible only to psychology students. But now nearly all of Wiseman's movies are at long last available on DVD through the director's own Zipporah Films website. Not sure where to start? We've got reviews of some of his most fascinating films, including High School, Meat, Law and Order, Welfare, State Legislature, and Domestic Violence.
