DVD Savant: Pinocchio, Treasures IV, and Kramer vs. Kramer
This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: Pinocchio - Walt Disney's most accomplished animated feature is a magical wonder from one end to the other, a sentimental musical masterpiece. Disney Home Video's elaborate Blu-ray release contains a stunning transfer with abundant extras and even a DVD version thrown in to sweeten the pot; Treasures IV: American Avant-Garde Film 1947-1986 - The National Film Preservation Foundation collects 26 museum-grade filmic artworks, one each from the top names in the Avant-Garde underground. Some terrific gems here, in optimal transfers. Two discs and a fat program booklet; and Kramer vs. Kramer - Robert Benton's excellent examination of the personal cost of divorce stars Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep in career-topping performances. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
