DVD Savant: Let the Right One In, Happy-Go-Lucky, and Faust
This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: Let the Right One In - Blu-ray. A swedish vampire tale that (finally) brings something truly original to the overworked genre. Unique, scary, and oddly romantic ...highly recommended; Happy-Go-Lucky - Sally Hawkins's Poppy isn't a mental case or a clown, but a woman with a refreshingly positive way of relating to the world. And she's no Pollyanna, as becomes obvious when her personality clashes with the intensely angry Scott (Eddie Marsdan); and Faust - F.W. Murnau's German classic has been restored to its original German version, with beautiful original intertitles. Kino Video's Restored Deluxe Edition presents two versions of the film and a fascinating long-form documentary. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
